Stellar and Collins Aerospace roll out next generation flight operation planning and scheduling tools for business aviation

SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Jan. 29, 2019) – Collins Aerospace and Stellar Labs, Inc. today announced new components of their next generation solution for business aviation flight operations. The new solution will be featured at this year’s NBAA Schedulers and Dispatchers Conference, being held in San Antonio, January 29 – 31. Conference attendees can learn more by speaking with product experts in the Collins booth (#1930) and the Stellar booth (#2136).

Collins and Stellar are jointly developing a suite of integrated, cloud-based applications as the successor to Collins’ ARINCDirect℠ Flight Operations System (FOS®). The next generation solution has a modern architecture, intuitive and easy-to-use web interface and new features. Operators who use FOS now have an immediate upgrade path to the only web-based flight operations system that provides the powerful functionality of FOS, easy migration and a roadmap to new and improved capabilities. The partners are rolling out the new solution in a series of modular releases.

Aircraft owners, business executives and their assistants can now easily and conveniently use a web-based portal on either their computer or their mobile device to get estimated flight times, view scheduled flights and drill down for details on itinerary, passengers and services. The trip planning tool saves time and money for both the trip planner and the flight department by eliminating phone calls and emails seeking this information. The new tool, previewed in October at the NBAA Business Aviation Convention and Exposition, is now available to operators who currently use FOS in the Stellar Cloud.

Schedulers can create itineraries, assign crews and set up trip services with unprecedented power and ease. The next generation scheduling module is a secure, cloud-based scheduling application that gives flight schedulers a continuous, real-time overview of their entire operation. Using intuitive dashboards, users can quickly verify that flight plans have passed all feasibility checks and all services have been confirmed. The scheduling module will be provided to beta customers beginning in March and will become available in mid-year.

“Coming on the heels of next generation quoting, the new trip planning and scheduling modules are realizing Stellar’s vision of a radically more efficient business aviation industry,” said Stellar CEO David Fox.

“The rich functionality of ARINCDirect FOS and Stellar’s cloud-based platform together will transform business aviation operations with a much more streamlined and intuitive platform,” said David Poltorak, vice president, Business and Government Aviation Services for Collins Aerospace.

Current customers of ARINCDirect FOS can begin taking advantage of the next generation software tools by upgrading to FOS in the Stellar Cloud and using FOS Sync. Data are synchronized between FOS and the next generation system, so there is no need to enter the same data into both systems, and users can migrate over time.
