LAS VEGAS, NEVADA, NOVEMBER 19, 2015 – Stellar Labs, the first complete digital marketplace for private aviation, today announced two significant additions to team. Fred Powell Jr. and Wendy Burton bring deep industry experience and long-standing relationships with Part 135 operators. Stellar also announced that FlightApps will support the integration of Stellar with operators’ flight management systems and will augment our existing Operator Service offerings.
“We are extremely excited to have Fred and Wendy on the team,” said CEO Paul Touw. “Our goal from Day One was to develop the most experienced team of computer scientists, business experts and developers for business aviation – which now numbers over 40 employees. The addition of Fred and Wendy continues our commitment towards that goal.
For the last 20 years, Fred Powell Jr. has been private aviation’s leading developer of flight operations management systems. During his tenure as the Chief Architect, Designer and Program Manager for FOS, the system became the dominant solution for corporate, charter, and OEM operations – used by 50% of Fortune 100 companies and 85% of charter operators.
“I continue to see operators struggle with managing charter due to disconnected systems, manual processes and overall lack of technology and automation,” said Fred Powell Jr. “Operators and customers are begging for a solution. The technology is now available to build these solutions, and Stellar is making the investments necessary to solve the problem holistically, providing the tools that an operator requires to enable easy buying and selling of charter.
Wendy Burton comes to Stellar with over 15 years of industry experience that includes being an integral part of growing one of countries largest aircraft brokerage companies from start-up stage (Sentient Jet), to holding a series of executive level directorships for some of the country’s leading air charter and management companies. For the past 10 years, Wendy has served as Chair for the National Business Aviation Association’s (NBAA) California division of Schedulers and Dispatchers (SONO).
“Throughout my career, I have been a passionate advocate for charter operators,” said Wendy Burton. “I joined Stellar because it allows me to bring significant, positive change to the industry I love.”
FlightApps is a full-service IT provider and application service provider for the aviation industry.
“Personally, we have worked with other marketplace solutions and ‘potential’ or ‘almost’ solutions in the past,” said FlightApps CEO Brent Moldowan. “Stellar is coming at this from the right perspective with the right team. We look forward to supporting the pace and delivery of a successful Stellar story.”
